I purchased these based on my son's waist size (21 inches) thinking if the small was a little too big in the waist we would just use a belt. I didn't pay attention to the height chart for sizes, which was my error. The pants are extremely long, so I will have to take them up about 3 inches. My son is 6 years old, is tall and slender with an 18 inch inseam. My recommendation would be to purchase based on the height sizing, not on waist.The quality of the pant is great. I like that it has belt loops to allow for adjusting the waist.

My twin boys are eleven and very tall & slim. These pants are a great slim fit! trying to find pants long enough is difficult & these are just right in length.
